Lynx Falls

6/19/15

2 mile hike from the upper parking lot of Turkey Mountain.

In a gulch on Turkey Mountain, there is a place I have dubbed “Lynx Falls”. It’s a smoothed out slide and ledge of limestone that remains dry for most of the year, but after a series of rains, morphs into a waterfall. With all the rain we've had lately, the chances were high that the Falls would be running strong.

I was not disappointed.

  1. Great pics, is this at the bypass around Pepsi Lake?

    1. Thanks! No, it's actually upstream from Pepsi. Just below the second pond to the left of Powerline heading North.

  2. Been to Turkey Mountain many times, never saw anything like this. Help navigating to it? I'm assuming upper parking lot but after that general directions would be awesome. Also, 2 miles round trip hike, or 2 miles to it, 2 miles back?

    1. To get there, take powerline north to the first pond on the left. Take the trail that goes down to the pond, but immediately turn right into the woods. Follow that trail down the creek bed. It will eventually cross the creek and go along the west side of the second pond. The falls are on the north side of the second pond, right below where the pond drains. Hope that helps!
